Leadership Experience

Student Government:

The Student Government Association (SGA) at the Medical University of South Carolina provides a collective voice of students on campus with administration and the community.  In addition, the SGA provides a variety of events and activities each year to enhance the student experience. SGA is composed of five executive officers and representatives from each of the six colleges on campus. As a first year MHA student I served as the SGA Liaison Representative on behalf of my first year cohort, I was later tapped to represent the College of Health Professions on behalf of MUSC's SGA midway through the semester. I have most recently been elected as the Alumni Relations Officer for the College of Health Professions.

Dr. Raymond S. Greenberg Presidential Scholar:

Dr. Raymond S. Greenberg, when he was the Provost of the Medical University of South Carolina, launched the concept of an interprofessional scholars program for MUSC. The program is intended to enrich the academic environment of the university and allow meaningful interprofessional interaction on a broad range of issues that transcend discipline and professional boundaries. The Scholars Program is a two semester experience for approximately 50 students, joined by selected faculty scholars from each college as well as the Charleston School of Law. The program explores complex social, political, and human issues of broad interest to health care professionals and biomedical researchers in a format that maximizes student participation and interaction. A theme is chosen for each term or year of the program, focusing on health care system issues and social determinants of health.

Board of Directors for the MUSC Health Administrative Alumni Network

I have recently been asked to join the Board of Directors for the newly founded MUSC Health Administrative Alumni Network. This organization is designed for alumnus of health-administration related degrees, both current and discontinued, to build strategic connections and strengthen networking ties. The Board explored mentoring opportunities, professional development, and hosts networking events for old and new classmates to connect.

Be The Match Founder:

Be The Match is an organization that manages the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world. For the thousands of people diagnosed every year with life-threatening blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, a cure exists. Be The Match was introduced to me through my experience with Lachlan who presented with a rare form of juvenile leukemia and needed a bone marrow transplant. During his search for a match I started a Be The Match Campus Chapter at Clemson University, where after one year of conception we were the leading Campus Chapter for morrow registries. This was a very rewarding philanthropy to be a part of.
