Sales Associate for Applied Medical Resources (June 2016 - June 2017)
Immediately following my graduation from Clemson University, I accepted a medical device sales associate position with Applied Medical Resources. Applied Medical is a 30-year-old, privately held company based out of Southern California. I spent about 6 weeks in an intensive training program in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA until being transferred to Myrtle Beach, SC where I worked for about a year. During my time with Applied Medical, I sold mostly minimally invasive surgical devices for a wide range of specialties that primarily included obstetrics and gynecology, colorectal, general, and urology. I focused on driving revenue, building rapport with every account, and delivering technologies that would enhance clinical care. I lead a laparoscopic trocar conversion as an entry level sales associate in a territory without a manager and drove up revenue by over $30,000 in a single quarter. I appreciated my time with Applied Medical as a device representative but was ready to take a more active role in the delivery of healthcare which lead me to pursue my Master of Health Administration.
Smith and Nephew (Summer 2015)
During the summer of 2015 I was given the opportunity to intern with the well known, international medical company, Smith and Nephew. I gained exceptional experience in the medical field through spending 180 hours in and out of the operating room with an assortment of pristine surgeons in the Greenville, South Carolina area. I was given ample opportunity to interact with medical associates, have intellectual conversations with orthopedic doctors, physicians assistants, nurses, scrub technicians, and hospital staff. This was an extremely beneficial learning experience that I am very grateful for and will refer to frequently in the coming months to pursue a career in medical device sales.
