VOLUNTEERING

My initial interest into healthcare was fueled by my passion for helping people. I didn't truly realize the desire I had to help others and the capacity I would be able to do so until my junior year of college. I was introduced to a little boy, Lachlan Tannery, who was diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML) which is an extremely rare form of pediatric cancer. As the philanthropy chair for my sorority at the time I was presented with an opportunity to help this little boy and his family as much or as little as I wanted to. This started the many weeks of preparation and working with the most amazing people that would change my life forever. With the help of family and friends of the Tannery family, Tri Delta of Clemson University and many faculty and staff we were able to host an amazing night that raised over $16,000 for the family and in a few short weeks later found a local Be The Match Chapter at Clemson. The successes of this event and experience made me aware of the potential impact I could have in healthcare from a non-clinical role as well as solidified the joy I receive from helping others. Below you will find a list of opportunities I have had to volunteer for various organizations.

- MUSC Health Child's Life Volunteer
