SAVE LACHLAN LANTERN LIGHTING

The Save Lachlan Lantern Lighting is also referred to as "Love and Lights for Lachlan" and took place on September 28, 2014. Lachlan Tannery was a 20 month old little boy suffering from Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia desperate for a bone marrow transplant for a 50% chance to live. He has a twin brother, Calhoun and younger brother Owen, neither of which were options for the transplant, however through Be The Match they were able to find another match for Lachlan. I planned a fundraiser to raise money for Lachlan's treatment and JMML awareness with the help of Tri Delta. We sold lanterns to light the sky orange for Lachlan before he left for treatment and a transplant at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. We were able to raise over $16,000 for his treatment and the JMML foundation. Unfortunately, Lachlan faced an aggressive relapse that took his life May 7, 2015. This fundraiser was a huge success. I believe it gave the Tannery family more love and hope and the entire Clemson community gained more appreciation for precious lives, such as Lachlans.  I will continue to raise awareness for JMML and other life threatening cancers as well as Be The Match in memory of Lachlan Tannery.
